After 20 years in winemaking, I started a new wine label. This new project is not like anything I've ever done before. My aim, through this new label, is to search across Washington State for high-quality bulk, finished wines, which I will purchase, bottle, and offer to you all. And, I still remain firm in my family's passion, to make these wines accessible to everyone at reasonable prices.
This wine I received from one of our grape sources that we've used in the past for our Reserve line-up. They had several blends available in each vintage, but also several vintages too. I tasted through 9 different blends and this one was my favorite. It is denoted as Columbia Valley because it consists of multiple AVA's, 51.5% Red Mountain, 38.7% Horse Heaven Hills, and 9.8% Columbia Valley. As for the varietal make-up, it is actually a bordeaux blend of 66.7% Merlot, 21.6% Cabernet Franc, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, 1% Malbec, and 0.7% Petit Verdot. As you would expect with the pedigree of the vineyard locations, this wine is massive, intense red. It is luscious and bold, exploding with violet, sweet cherry, and vanilla aromas, while strawberry, bell peppers, and toasted oak flavors linger into a velvety smooth finish. This is the oldest of the wines I will be releasing, and can be enjoyed now, but it will also age beautifully over the next 5-10 years.
