N Collection 2021 Petit Verdot

After 20 years in winemaking, I started a new wine label. This new project is not like anything I’ve ever done before. My aim, through this new label, is to search across Washington State for high-quality bulk, finished wines, which I will purchase, bottle, and offer to you all. And, I still remain firm in my family’s passion, to make these wines accessible to everyone at reasonable prices.

I would love to create every varietal from each appellation in the state, but that simply isn’t feasible. As a result, the idea of sourcing already produced, high-quality wines in limited quantities came to life. This 100% Red Mountain Petit Verdot beautifully captures the spirit of the N Collection project. Sourcing Red Mountain grapes for my own production poses challenges, particularly for a varietal that is not widely cultivated. However, with the launch of the new label, I was able to secure two barrels from the same grape source as my red blend and previous vintages of our Reserve Reds, allowing me to acquire this remarkable wine and bottle it.

N Collection 2021 Petit Verdot

As you can expect with a grape from this appellation, but also of the most intense varietal, this Petit Verdot is massive.  It can be enjoyed now, but with the high tannins and bold fruit that it possesses, it will only with better with 2, 5, and even 10 years of age!  It is a beautiful, deeply purple-colored wine that opens up with tobacco, florals, and black cherry. Dark cherry and plum flavors mingle with toasted vanilla and dried herbs. I bought 2 barrels of this wine as well, so we only have 50 cases of this gem!

Food Pairing

This wine is big, bold, and flavorful, so it needs to be paired with food that can hold up to it, such as hearty beef recipes, short ribs, carne asada, and dark chocolate desserts.  Try Ellena’s Red Wine Tri Tip recipe available online or in her latest cookbook.
